Shop Follow-ups · Last updated 4 November 2026
Shop Follow-ups is a small free tool that helps shop owners follow up with people who asked to be contacted. Each person who uses it has their own private workspace. This page explains what data it uses and how.
Signing in
- To sign in, the app asks Google only for your email address. It does not get access to your Google account, Drive or mail.
Data from connected Gmail accounts
- The tool asks Google only for permission to send email (
gmail.send) and to know the connected email address. - It cannot read, search, change or delete any email in the connected account.
- The permission token Google returns is stored privately on the tool's server (Google Apps Script), for that workspace only. It is never shown on any web page, never written to a spreadsheet, and never shared with anyone or with other workspaces.
- Google user data is used only to send the follow-up emails the workspace's users ask the tool to send. It is not sold, shared, used for advertising, or used to train any AI model.
- Shop Follow-ups' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Contact lists
Names, emails, phone numbers and consent details of interested buyers are stored in a Google Sheet for each workspace. The Sheet is kept in the Google Drive of the app's administrator (who runs the app) and shared only with the workspace owner; inside the app, only the owner and the people they invite can see it. The administrator does not use this data for anything except running the app. People are only messaged if they agreed to be contacted, and anyone who asks to stop is marked as opted out and never messaged again.
Photos and videos
Photos and videos added for WhatsApp messages are stored in one folder the app makes in the Google Drive of the app's administrator. The app uses Google's “drive.file” permission: it can only see the files it made itself, nothing else in that Drive. Each file can only be used by the workspace it was added in. Removing a photo or video in the app moves the file to the Drive bin. For the WhatsApp Business API, the file is also uploaded to Meta to send it.
- If a workspace sends WhatsApp messages from its own Mac, the messages go through that Mac's WhatsApp; the tool keeps only the result (sent or not).
- If a workspace connects the WhatsApp Business API (Meta), the messages are sent by Meta, under Meta's terms, and the workspace pays Meta. The access token is stored privately like the Gmail tokens above.
Removing access or data
- A connected Gmail account can be disconnected at any time in the tool's Settings, or by the account owner at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- To have your contact details removed, ask the shop that contacted you, or email the address below and we will forward your request.
